King's Store

A Fairport fixture for 50 years, King's Store was in easy walking distance to any kid living on Midvale Drive. Family owned and operated it had an old fashioned soda fountain which served home made ice cream made on the premises, milk shakes, sodas and sundaes. The grocery store sold home baked bread baked in the little bakery out back, along with home made fried cakes from the fried cake machine. You could run a tab there for your groceries and they also delivered! They never sold beer there, but about anything else including Christmas trees in the winter. There was also an apartment upstairs that was rented.

After it was sold and demolished, U.S. Representitive Frank Horton read a Tribute to the King Family into the Congressional Record describing the history of the store.
